Question: Can I use Olaplex 1 in my relaxer? If so how much should I put in?
Mags Kavanaugh: Relaxers-Olaplex may be added directly into your sodium hydroxide relaxers. For 2oz (60g) or more of relaxer solution, add 1/4oz (7.5ml) Olaplex No.1.For anything less than 2oz (60g) of relaxer solution, add 1/8oz (3.75ml) Olaplex No.1.***Please note, adding 1/4oz (7.5ml) for 2oz (60g) of relaxer solution will provide a more voluminous result. If result is desired closer to head shape, you may cut down to 1/8oz (3.75ml) for 2oz (60g) relaxer solution.***If working with a gentle relaxer, cut amount of Olaplex used in half.Apply and process as normal.Rinse, towel dry and follow with full Olaplex stand alone treatment. Mix up 3oz (90ml) water with 1/2oz (15ml) No.1. Take client to shampoo bowl and saturate thoroughly. Leave on for a minimum of 5 minutes. Without rinsing, layer No.2 over the top for an additional 10-20 minutes.Rinse and follow with neutralizing shampoo (You may add 1/8oz (3.75ml) No.1 to your neutralizing shampoo) and condition.***In some cases, using Olaplex in your relaxer can interfere with the level of straightness achieved. If you are trying to achieve maximum straightness, we recommend performing a stand alone treatment before and after your relaxer process, as well as adding Olaplex into your neutralizing shampoo.
