Question: Yesterday, while at the salon, I received the first 2 treatments of Olaplex and a cut. I also bought the take home treatment to do once a week for the next few weeks to improve the health of my hair. I touch up my roots at home. Is it alright to do my roots today? Or should I wait a few days before coloring with a demi?

Rebecca Clements: Usually during a salon service (meaning color) olaplex #1 goes into the color then when you rinse #2 goes in the hair. Then you can use the #3 at home when ever. Olaplex can not be over used. I believe you will be good:) but I’ll tag Jennifer Boyce from olaplex

Sandee Pippin: I didn’t recieve a color yesterday, only Olaplex and a cut.
Rebecca Clements: I know I was just saying it’s used right after a color all the time
Rebecca Clements: After you color your hair use the number #3 if you would like but you will be fine
Sandee Pippin: I don’t want to “undo” what I did yesterday…. although I only use a demi color…..
Sandee Pippin: Thank you! These gray hairs are driving me nuts!
Rebecca Clements: Next time maybe color your hair and then go get the treatments ?
Sandee Pippin:
?
Rebecca Clements: Glad your using olaplex it’s been amazing for my hair!
Sandee Pippin: I want to touch up my roots today (I do my color at home)….. 😉
Aura Mae: There’s no reason to wait.
Jennifer Boyce: You can use Olaplex before, after and anytime between any coloring sessions. Great advice from these ladies! If you are doing a color at home use Olaplex right after you wash the color out then shampoo and condition. Then you can use it weekly to keep your hair strong ?
Cynthia Taber: Why are y’all giving advice to an unlicensed individual?
Rose Topic: You can use # 3 as often as you like, as for color, go to a professional and get it done.
Rebecca Clements: She is going to do what she wants, obviously we all want her to go to a professional but why not advise her on how to use olaplex #3 at home? She only wanted advice on olaplex usage
Rose Topic: Rebbeca did you not read my comment, obviously. Don’t get your panties in the bunch.
Rebecca Clements: I agree with you I would rather her go to a professional I was referring to the comment that asked why we were giving her advice…..
Sandee Pippin: Damn. Stop your arguing. And thank you for the Olaplex advice!?
Diane Johnson Wabick: Amen
Sandee Pippin: Rebecca Clements and Jennifer Boyce…. at the salon on Saturday, when I had the Olaplex 1 & 2 and purchased the take home, step 3, I was a bit confused when my stylist said I did not need to condition after using the step 3 at home. That it’s conditioning enough. 🙁 I know from this site that that is not true, that you follow-up with shampoo and conditioner. Unless….. Olaplex has changed something recently?
Jennifer Boyce: Hi Sandee-sorry for the confusion. You definitely want to wash and condition after using #3. Olaplex makes hair stronger but does not address moisture or protein issues the hair still needs. Olaplex works best on clean hair. I recommend using 1/2-3/4oz per session on clean damp/towel dry hair and leaving on hair for 10-30 min keeping hair damp. Then shampoo and condition ?
Rebecca Clements: Olaplex is not a conditioner it is a bond re builder. So you need to follow up after with a shampoo and conditioner. A deep conditioner after also helps! I’m so glad you are looking at the website and getting your facts! As far as I remember Jennifer has taught me that you always wash after the use.
